2009 SCHOOL OF ANATOMY AND HUMAN BIOLOGY ALUMNI REUNION

Come together on 30 October for a Reunion Evenin' celebrating the first 33⅓ years of the school's graduates from 1957 to 1990. Like a good record, playing a classic tune over again, enjoy reminiscing the 'good ole days' that you shared at the School of Anatomy and Human Biology. There will be opportunities to meet old and new staff and learn more about the current developments and future direction of the school.

Out There!

As part of the Out There! hands-on public exhibition focused on the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope, Professor Peter Quinn presented a fascinating talk on its incredible potential.

Professor Quinn discussed just how the SKA radio telescope, which is up to 50 times more sensitive than present-day instruments, will revolutionise our understanding of the origin and evolution of the universe.

The free Out There! exhibition also featured hands-on activities providing an equally fascinating insight into the physics behind radio astronomy and the mysteries of the universe, including the Big Bang, the Dark Ages and First Light.

SymbioticA art: The Self Protecting CactusTour of the School of Anatomy and Human Biology

Included in the School tour was the Molecular Biology Lab, CellCentral Histology, CellCentral imaging and SymbioticA, which has earned an international reputation for their groundbreaking and pioneering research and practice in the field of art and the life sciences.  SymbioticA was awarded the inaugural Golden Nica in Hybrid Arts at Ars Electronica 2007, a prestigious award for contemporary art dealing with new technology.

As well as touring the facilities our guests were able to meet our “rising stars” – the brightest and best young students and researchers from the School of Anatomy & Human Biology.
